Family Atlantica are three people from three different continents: London born Jack Yglesias, producer and multi-instrumentalist of The Heliocentrics; his wife Luzmira Zerpa, traditional Venezuelan musician, poet and singer; and half Nigerian-half Ghanaian percussionist Kwame 'Natural Power' Crentsil. Their eponymous first album garnered a range of awards including Songlines Magazine’s Best Newcomers 2015. With their second album “Cosmic Unity” they have created a cohesive, forward-looking sound that echoes classic tropical recordings of the past whilst sounding fresh and contemporary, moving through genres as diverse as psychedelic highlife, steel-pan Ethiopian funk, and scorching equatorial jazz. Lush string and horn arrangements give way to acidic commentary on the immigration system and slavery as well as incantations of unity.
